We have discussed all of the classes in the Business Department, so now we will start to have the Business Teacher of the Day. But first, here are all the classes in the Department:

In the Marketing Work Progarm, students have an opportunity to earn credits for working in a business setting. Students are placed in an area of business and retailing of their choosing. There they will receive on-the-job training. For 200 hours, about 5 hours a week, you get 0.5 credits and for 400 hours, about 10 hours a week, you get 1 credit.
This class is one of the most in dept classes here at NMHS. Students will learn how to use Alice for this class. Around 15% of colleges and university use this as an introductory class. This will be a great advantage for those pursuing an career in business. Students wishing to take this class should have take BCA or have had an recommendation from someone in the business department. Also, strong math skills are recommended because math and programing go hand in hand.
This class is a great way to learn practical skills used in many jobs. Skills such as learning to use a cash registers and how to present a successful sales pitch. You will have a chance to work in the school store, which is open before, during, and after school hours. Also, you will learn advertising techniques, and good store layouts during this year long class. Later in the year, you will have an opportunity to assume the role of manger in a plethora of areas, food, appeal school, or beverage sales.
This is a more serious topic the business department and is very important for someone who may want to be a lawyer for a company someday. This class covers crucial matters in the law of the business world such as ethics, the making of laws, personal law, criminal law and contract. This class includes one field trip to a local courthouse and also may include a mock trial so students can test out what they have learned over the year.
This class is advanced and is only available to students who have completed the Business Computer Application course or have a special recommendation from a teacher. In this class, students develop their own websites using numerous programs provided by the school. The programs used in Web Design I are Microsoft Frontpage and Macromedia Fireworks. The applications that are used in Web Design II are Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). This class is vital for a student who wants to own their own business or design websites for larger businesses.
This class is an extension of the keyboarding class offered here at NMHS. This is a very interactive course that includes the use of a mix of Microsoft applications and various open source applications. Students are shown the capabilities and numerous advantages of open source programs that are available off the internet that are free of charge. These programs include Adobe Fireworks, the entire Microsoft Office Suite, Scribus, pixlr.com, sumopaint.com, Audacity(audio editor), GIMP (image editor), and Blender (3D video software). This class is taught by Mr. Daniels, Mrs. Perrone, and Mrs. Paradise.
Today's class emphasizes 21th century skills that help you in everyday jobs and tasks. This class encourages logic and creativity. The course is vital to any students who wish to pursue a career in the business world. This class also gives students the opportunity to participate in real-world type problems that they have to solve themselves. After a student completes this class, they can go even further in this direction with Business Computer Applications.
NMHS Business Department
Our goal is to create a blog for the NMHS Business Department. We also are striving to encourage more students to make a good decision and invest in their futures by enrolling in Business Course here at New Milford High School.
